The Vanir, with its unique design, is the third line ship you can choose when you reach level 20. It is a command vessel, so it should be used as a mobile base of operations. With four computer slots available the Vanir can be a vital tide-changer in some small skirmishes. It is also a ship you can buy with tylium but at 2,000,000 tylium, it may seem quite a distance to acquire than most ships. But it is a helpful bonus to any fleet. The Vanir can also be used as a missile ship as it can have systems installed which vastly improves the power supply. Although the ship's model shows an open space in between the left and right sides of the hull, strikes cannot pass through it, since the ship's collision box is exactly the same as all the other liners. Even though the Vanir is a command class line, it does not have the most amount of energy output among the un-advanced line ships, something that can be misunderstood by those who do not look at its stats. In fact, even after game update 46, the Aesir has more energy. Of the advanced versions, the Advanced Vanir now has the most energy of any Colonial line ship.

The Vanir whilst slower than a Gungnir or Aesir, is faster than a Jotunn.

However, the Vanir still can be used as a 'Missile Boat' if the pilot dedicates most of its Computer slots for energy restoration. If a pilot wants his/her Vanir to become a 'Missile Boat', it is recommended to get Level 7-15 High Energy Capacitor Grids or Auxillary Power Grids for its computer slots.

"The distinctive twin-hull design of the Vanir incorporates multiple sensor and emitter grids in a paired configuration that, when restored to working order by the ground crews of the Galactica and Pegasus, have proved to be extremely powerful and effective.

As a heavy Command vessel, the Vanir can be equipped with more computer systems than other line ships, increasing its electronic warfare and support capabilities.

Role Bonus - Command: -150 to power cost for FTL Transponders."
